Ledger life insurance case resolved

Fri, 30 Jan 2009

The resolution of Heath Ledger’s £7 million life insurance policy has been agreed upon following a lawsuit. A confidential settlement was highlighted in court documents filed in Los Angeles.

Lawyers for Ledger will now seek a closed hearing to establish a court guardian to represent the three year old daughter of the deceased actor. Matilda Rose, the daughter of Health Ledger, is the beneficiary of the policy.

Acting after his death, attorneys sued ReliaStar Life Insurance, following an apparent refusal by the insurance company to pay out on the policy. The insurer was investigating whether Ledger committed suicide. However, a coroner ruled that it was an accidental drug overdose.
