Never underestimate life insurance worth

Tue, 06 May 2008

Experts in the life insurance market advise that would-be policyholders should never underestimate how much they are truly worth when applying for a life insurance policy . Typically, experts say, life insurance applicants fail to take into account the value of unpaid work such as domestic care for children, cooking and cleaning.

The head of life insurance at Sainsbury's Bank was reported as commenting: "When assessing the amount of life insurance you need, you should not only consider your debt and income, but also your dependants and the value of the unpaid work you do such as looking after the children and cooking and cleaning because paying for these would cost thousands of pounds a year."

Furthermore, life insurance policyholders should review their policy regularly, particularly at any life-changing event such as marriage, moving house or having children. Experts advise renewing on an annual basis to make sure that your life insurance premiums remain competitive.
