Life insurance necessary for the self-employed

Mon, 21 Jan 2008

According to ABI (Association of British Insurers) reports, self-employed people have an even greater need for life insurance than those in full-time employment .

The ABI were reported in life insurance news as saying that the self-employed are responsible for their own benefits, and need to take out all appropriate cover themselves.

The head of health and protection insurance at the ABI, Nick Kirwan, said that those people in self-employment needed to realise that without life insurance from an employer they are on their own.

Kirwan was reported as commenting: "That's a time when people should really think: 'Hang on, I'm on my own now, what if my health lets me down? If you're self employed, absolutely everything does depend on you being healthy and being able to do your job ."
