Brits still choose mobile phone over life insurance

Wed, 09 Jan 2008

The Life insurance and pensions provider Friends Provident has conducted a study that reveals 54 per cent of people had no life insurance policy . Of those that do have cover (46 per cent of respondents) most looked for professional advice when choosing a life insurance policy .

The protection products and actuarial manager at Friend Provident, Mark Jones, reportedly commented: "Understandably, none of us really want to think about our own mortality, but we do owe it our families to ensure that we have made provision, be it to pay off the mortgage or provide a lump cash sum."

The survey also conducted a unique piece of research, asking respondents whether they would be prepared to swap their mobile phone for free life insurance . Only 6 per cent of those that replied would take up the offer, indicating where UK consumer priorities lie.
