Female life insurance changes driven by social factors

Tue, 29 May 2007

According to Click Life, social changes could be behind dramatic increases in the number of women applying for life insurance cover . The online life insurance broker found that female life cover had soared in popularity in the last year, potentially due to a increase in the number of single parent families.

According to Click Life, the figures could even follow socio-economic trends tracked by the Office of National Statistics. For instance, 90 per cent of single parent families are headed by women.

The managing director of Click Life, Steve Teague, reportedly commented: "A logical spin-off of this trend is that women are adopting traditional male roles like arranging life cover. The facts and figures from our research, backed up by the ONS report, suggests even single parent families are waking up to the fact it is sensible to have a life cover in place."
