Tue, 13 Mar 2007

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has launched an extensive new advertising campaign to raise awareness about different types of insurance . The campaign will aim to educate people about the 'insurance made clear' website, and leave consumers more aware of how to buy protection.

The new campaign, which is set to target people via SMS, the Internet, radio and printed media, followed a recent FSA survey. It found that 51 per cent of adults thought that it was compulsory to buy life insurance when getting a mortgage, and that 55 per cent of people do not shop around when looking for a life insurance policy.

As part of their campaign, the FSA are to launch their first podcast, including consumer perceptions of insurance and top tips for insurance purchase. The director of retail themes at the FSA, Vernon Everitt, reportedly commented: "We want to help consumers ask the right questions of themselves and the insurance market when it comes to buying products. The market as a whole will benefit from more capable and confident consumers."
