Smokers in the UK are being urged to break the habit in order to make life insurance savings in the long-run, in light of the fact that those with better health can expect lower life insurance premiums overall.
Experts at moneysupermarket.com have calculated that smokers who give up before No Smoking Day on March 14th could stand to save up to £4,000 on their life insurance premiums, emphasising the fact that quitting can have financial as well as health benefits.
The difference between life insurance premiums for smokers and non-smokers is thought to be as much as 56 per cent over the course of a term, underlining the clear financial benefits of giving up. As of July 1st smoking will be banned in all enclosed public spaces throughout England, legislation which is expected to result in a more smokers choosing to quit for good. An estimated 2.8 million people are expected to give up due to the new laws.
