Giving up your worst habits this Lent could help your health and your wallet. According to a new study by Norwich Union, using Lent as an excuse to quit living unhealthily could lead to savings.
Giving up a 20-a-day cigarette habit just for Lent, according to Norwich Union, could result in the saving of almost 200 pounds by Easter. Not only that, further savings could be possible from your life insurance company. Several studies this year indicate that life insurance premiums are significantly less for non-smokers when compared to those who do smoke.
Norwich Union also pointed to potential money saving benefits from giving up vices such as wine or chocolate. A director at Norwich Union (one of the larger insurance companies in the UK), Simon Quick, reportedly commented: "It's astounding how much you can save by giving up a little something over Lent. In our example of cigarettes, you can save nearly £200 as well as the obvious health benefits."
